BACK. TO. BACK.
San Diego Surf captures the U14 ECNL National Title 🏆

San Diego Surf entered the U14 National Championship match against Michigan Hawks as the only reigning champion standing in either ECNL Boys or ECNL Girls, and were determined to become the only team to go back-to-back this season.

Surf and Hawks opened the game going up and down the pitch, playing an intense first half with multiple scoring chances. It was Surf who broke through first, scoring a goal midway through the first to take a 1-0 lead.

San Diego Surf carried that lead throughout the rest of the first half and into the second, then doubled their lead with 20 minutes to go. No. 3 had the ball at the top of the box and slipped a pass to No. 7, who had a clear look on net. Her shot beat the diving goalkeeper low to the right post, doubling Surf’s lead to 2-0.

Michigan Hawks finally got on the board with five minutes remaining, cutting Surf’s lead to 2-1. Hawks earned a free kick well outside the box, and No. 13 rifled a shot into the top left corner for the goal.

Sensing a chance to send the game to extra time, Michigan Hawks sent everyone forward, looking for the equalizer, but San Diego Surf stood tall and held on to the 2-1 lead to the final whistle. With the win, San Diego Surf became back-to-back champions.
