SAN DIEGO SURF ECNL BOYS WIN THREE ECNL NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS!
#SurfPROUD is an understatement when talking about our ECNL Boys program! The San Diego Surf U13, U15 & U19 Boys had an incredible run in the ECNL League National Playoffs, culminating with San Diego Surf Soccer’s 13th, 14th, & 15th National Champion titles!
U19: San Diego Surf Rise to the Top
In a win-or-go-home format, the U19 boys carried their success from the So Cal Conference championship into the ECNL playoffs. Several tight contests against strong competition saw SD Surf knock off the likes of Pateadores and Dallas Texans to place themselves into the final against KC Scott Gallagher. In the final game, the U19’s experience showed, as it took them less than a minute to score the opening goal. From there, the team didn’t look back, securing a 4-1 win and the club’s first national championship of the 22-23 season.
U16: San Diego Surf completes dominant playoff stretch
After advancing to the final round of the ECNL playoffs, the U16 SD Surf boys had only one thing on their minds, a national championship. They took the quarterfinal game 4-1 over Crossfire Premier with their eyes on a rematch of last year’s game against Pipeline SC, who knocked them out of the playoffs in 2022. In a very tightly contested match, Surf came away as winners, with a goal in the final 5 minutes of regulation, securing a 1-0 win and a place in the final. Surf lined up against Eclipse Select in the national final and showed their dominance. A clinical start to the game saw Surf put their first 3 chances of the game away, with one more added before halftime, making the score 4-0. The dominant message was clear at halftime, as Surf secured its 5th goal of the game just 3 minutes into the second half, leading them to a 5-1 win and the club’s second national championship.
U13: Shootout win for San Diego Surf
Resilience was the keyword for the U13 San Diego Surf boys. The team took down FSA FC and local opponent Slammers FC on their way to the final versus powerhouse Dallas Texans Academy. The boys found themselves down 1-0 to Texans just 5 minutes into the game. They were able to weather the storm and get into halftime 1-0 down. Several key changes were made at halftime to change the flow of the game. Surf came out dominant and equalized in the second half to send the game into overtime. Early into the first overtime, Surf found the go-ahead goal to go up 2-1, but Texans proved their worth as they equalized with just 2 minutes left in the second overtime to send the game into PKs. A dominant GK performance saw 3 key saves made for SD Surf, leading them to a 3-2 victory in penalties and securing the club’s third national championship.
