Youth Soccer News: Surf Soccer (San Diego, CA) has announced a new partnership with Monterey Bay Soccer Club (Monterey, CA) — their 18th and newest partner organization, which will now be known as Monterey Surf.  Monterey Surf will be the fifth Surf Club in NorCal Premier, as the organization looks to focus on building a strong network of clubs in the region that will eventually lead to true player academy pathways in the Bay Area.

Along with San Jose Surf, Walnut Creek Surf, Central Valley Surf, and Sierra Surf – Monterey Surf will help contribute towards the goal of building the best soccer programming and player opportunities in Northern California.

“We spoke with many organizations wanting to partner with us over the past year. All had a similar approach of ‘tell your top players to travel to us in order to get opportunities,’” said Brett Rosenberger, Monterey Surf DOC. He continued, “the other organizations just didn’t show an interest or understanding of the culture and resources here. Surf has been interested in how to help our players be best from the beginning. They are encouraging our kids to train local but connect regularly on a regional basis through the NorCal Surf Network.”

Monterey Bay Soccer Club has NorCal soccer roots dating back to 1992, when the original ownership started Monterey Bay Sports League (MBSL), providing recreation-based sports to athletes in Monterey County. MBSL has grown into the premier sporting league in Monterey County, and now services over 1,000 players in Monterey County, with Monterey Surf being the premier soccer development program.

“As our Surf Affiliate Program continues to expand, it’s important that we partner with organizations that are run by people like Christian Ramos (Monterey Surf President) and Brett Rosenberger as they are dedicated to our mission to provide the best of the best experiences and opportunities for their athletes” said Chris Adams, Director of the Surf Affiliate program.

“With the addition of Monterey Surf, our national program has now grown to over 13,000 players across 18 clubs. We are thrilled to welcome Monterey Surf into our network and continue to help them focus on growing developing their players” added Chris.

Christian Ramos added, “MBSC has always promoted complete-athlete development through soccer, and now with our new Surf partnership, we have an even bigger opportunity to showcase and better our programming while providing a pathway to all the talent we have in Monterey county.”

Monterey Bay Soccer Club began an affiliation with San Jose Surf in 2018, sending players to train and play with San Jose Surf’s US Soccer Development Academy. Now, as a standalone Surf club, Monterey Surf will continue benefiting from those relationships in NorCal, all while taking advantage of the Surf Affiliate Program benefits.
