San Antonio Surf Expands With The Addition Of Rio Grande Valley Surf To Create Additional Opportunities For Players In Southern Texas

Surf Cup Sports (San Diego, CA) is proud to announce our new affiliate, Rio Grande Valley Surf SC (McAllen, TX), an expansion of San Antonio Surf SC in South Texas.  Rio Grande Valley Surf (RGV Surf)  will kick off play for the start of the 2021 season and along with San Antonio Surf are devoted to solidifying the best in player development and creating a strong player pathway in South Texas.

Based in McAllen, Texas, RGV Surf will feature boys and girls recreational and competitive teams of all ages, serving Cameron, Hidalgo, Starr, and Willacy Counties.

We are excited to bring extended programming to the Rio Grande Valley, and we are thrilled that our San Antonio team has found a like-minded partner that is as dedicated to their player’s development pathway. Surf is committed to offering all benefits of the Surf brand to help drive this success for our Texas clubs and are excited to help bring an even higher level of soccer to Texas through the Surf Program,” said Brian Enge, CEO Surf Sports.

Being able to provide new experiences and opportunities to players in the Valley is something we are very excited about, especially when it comes to programs like Surf Select. This region has a unique soccer culture that we don’t have as a nation just yet. We definitely want to do right by the players and families down here and build a club that is uniquely theirs and one that they can be proud of,” said San Antonio Surf Executive Director Rick Kuchka.

It’s exciting to be in partnership with an organization that shares the same vision and values we do. The ultimate goal is to provide our local talent opportunities to be discovered, play in the top available leagues, and our partnership with Surf SC accomplishes that,” said Oscar Sanchez, Sporting Director for Rio Grande Valley Surf.

Director Hector Veliz also added, “We will continue to do it like day one; constantly looking for the best opportunities for our local talent. We’re excited about the partnership and opportunities Surf brings to the Rio Grande Valley.”
